COUNTRY TO THE RESCUE
3 May 1999
Member for Lismore, Thomas George today paid tribute to the local Volunteers
from State Emergency Services, the NSW Rural Fire Service and the NSW Fire
Brigade for their recent efforts in supporting their respective organisations in
Sydney. They are currently assisting with the enormous task of the massive clean
up being carried out since the hail storms of 14 April 1999.
Furthermore, I would like to acknowledge the generous employers who have made
the time available for the volunteers to make the trip to Sydney.
A special thanks must also go to the families and friends who have supported the
volunteers in this exercise.
No doubt, this type of community support will certainly be appreciated by the
people of Sydney who experienced this disaster and now they will receive good
old country support, which we as a community can be very proud of.
