MEDICAL ENERGY REBATE AVAILABLE TO ELIGIBLE LISMORE ELECTORATE RESIDENTS
“…MP keen to ensure no one in Lismore electorate misses out…”
9 November 2009
People with medical conditions which hinder self regulation of body temperature, such as Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis, are encouraged to apply for a new $130-a-year rebate on their electricity bills.
Lismore Nationals MP Thomas George said the new initiative had received little publicity and he was keen to ensure nobody in the Lismore electorate missed out.
“The program starts at the beginning of 2010, but applications will be available from your electricity supplier in the near future,” Mr George said.
“To be eligible, one person in the household must have a qualifying medical condition certified by a doctor and hold a Pensioner Concession Card, DVA Gold Card, or Health Care Card.”
Mr George said the reason for the new concession was that people with certain medical conditions needed to use more power on heating and air conditioning.
