Thomas George, Nationals Member for Lismore, today congratulated Woodenbong teenager Melissa Hoffman on being awarded a Public Education Foundation Stellar Astronomy Scholarship.
“This is a wonderful achievement for a rural student. Melissa is one of 12 girls from NSW public schools to be offered a scholarship to study Physics for her Higher School Certificate,” Mr George said.
The scholarship is valued at up to $4000 over two years and includes a cash payment together with a telescope and resources.
The Public Education Foundation is an independent not-for-profit organisation created to support public school students and teachers in New South Wales.
“I wish Melissa every success with her studies over the next two years and am sure her dedication and hard work will ensure she has a very bright future,” Mr George said.
