SMALL GRANTS FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES CLOSING SOON
25 February 2010
The closing date for applications for the Small Grants for Small Communities Program are drawing near, The Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George said today.
Mr George has urged community groups to complete and submit applications by post so they arrive before the closing date 5pm, 29 March 2010.
“The Small Grants For Small Communities Program offers $900 000 a year to benefit communities in rural and remote Australia,” Mr George said.
“These Grants are available twice a year in March and September, to the amount of $5000.”
Mr George said the aim of the project was to see that rural and regional communities got its fair share of funds.
“This is a very special grant as it is exclusively for not-for-profit groups and organisations in rural and regional communities.
“The grant has been created to ensure a simpler application process and priority of funding goes to communities with less than 10,000 residents.
“The selection criteria have also been made simple and preference will go to projects which support community infrastructure, community development which involves disadvantaged or young people, resettlement of immigrants in rural Australia and in drought affected areas.
Groups and organisations interested in applying for the Small Grants for Rural Communities Funding should visit www.frrr.org.au for application forms and selection criteria or call my office on 66213624.
