CULTURAL GRANTS FOR EMERGING ARTISTS
Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George encourages emerging artists from his electorate to apply for an Ian Potter Cultural Trust Grant.
Mr George said the Ian Potter Cultural Trust aims to nurture the growth of excellence and diversity in cultural activities in Australia by making small grants to outstandingly talented people in the early stages of their careers.
The Trust makes grants of up $7,000 to early career artists practising in a wide range of disciplines within the arts, including the performing and visual arts, crafts, music, the media, literature, design, spanning traditional art forms right through to experimental media.
Grant requests must be for:
- Postgraduate study that will take place overseas
- Mentoring or private lessons overseas
- Overseas residencies or study tours with an educational focus or;
- Non standard musical instruments or equipment.
If seeking support for the making of a film, applicants must be final year or post-graduate film students.
Applications close Monday, 31 January 2011.
