CAPITAL WORKS AT LOCAL SCHOOLS
Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George today announced six local schools will receive funding as part of the Liberal & Nationals Government’s 2012-13 Budget.
The works are scheduled to be completed within the 2012/13 financial year.
The following schools will be funded by the Minor Works Program –
Wilsons Creek Public School – sewer upgrade
Richmond River high School – art unit upgrade
Murwillumbah Public School – canteen upgrade
“These upgrades will greatly improve the facilities at the schools” added Mr George.
The following schools will be funded under the Joint Funding Program –
Kyogle Public School – new bubblers
Lismore south Public School – staffroom upgrade
Wollumbin High School – air condition Language Lab
The Joint Funding Program provides funding to schools on a dollar-for-dollar basis, with the school providing at least 50% of the total estimated cost of a nominated project and the Department providing the remainder, up to $300,000.
The Joint Funding Program provides a real incentive to schools to raise funds within their community, with Government recognising and supporting local school based initiatives.
In 2012/13, the NSW Government is spending $447 million in capital works funding at NSW schools.
“The Liberal & Nationals Government is determined to provide the best learning environments possible in our schools,” said Mr George.
