Northern Rivers Echo
Last week I spent a day at Dunoon & Modanville inspecting projects which have obtained NSW Government funding. I started at the Dorrobbee Grass Reserve on top of the hill & what a view! The Trust received $9,960 from the Public Reserves Management Fund for weed control. Congratulations to tally, Mark, Heidi, Emma & all the volunteers who are doing a great job regenerating the Reserve.
Next I dropped into the Reg Gregor Memorial Men's Shed to see the finished extensions. The committee received $10,000 from the Community Building Partnership (CBP) program to undertake the renovations. Currently around 15 men each Wednesday come to work on projects & enjoy each other’s company.
Dunoon Preschool also was successful in gaining $4872 from the CBP to erect a new front fence to provide better security to the premises. I also had the opportunity to talk to Director Kate & President Alison about the increase in funding for the Preschool next year & the new ideas they have to attract even more children.
Lastly I visited Modanville Public School to officially open the new toilet block, which has been a long time coming. This coincided with Grandparents Day & the "Modanville's Got Talent" show, which certainly showcased some very talented dancers, singers & musicians.
